Hastings Graduate Joins Thunder Coaching Staff

Recent college graduate Cesar Herrera has joined the ranks of the Sioux Falls Thunder coaching staff. Herrera graduated from Hastings College in Hastings, NE in 2018. He was part of the 2016 NAIA National Championship-winning team. He was also a part of the 2017 GPAC Conference Tournament Champion team. Since graduating, Herrera has been the goalkeeper coach at Hastings College. During the 2019 season, Hastings led the NAIA in shutouts and was runner-up in the national championship game.

Herrera is ready to continue his soccer journey that he has followed since he was eight years old, taking him from the fields of Iowa to the pitches in Spain. "I'm very excited to join this new ownership group and staff and gain more experience coaching."

Coach Cesar has former experience in the National Premier Soccer League, taking the field for Duluth FC during the 2017 season. "I remember playing against the Thunder and how electric the environment was with the fans. I hope to see everyone at our home games!"

Herrera joins just in time to start work with the soon-to-be-announced Thunder recruits. Keep an eye on our socials to follow the signings. "I want to thank [Head Coach] Ryan Beier and owner Daniel Haggerty for this opportunity. I can't wait to get started with this group."
